Windsor TFC defeated the Sanjaxx Lions 1-0 on Sunday afternoon in a back-and-forth affair in Windsor to earn their first victory of the season.

Although Sanjaxx began the match with a majority of possession and outshot Windsor throughout the game, it was the home team that broke the deadlock and were able to defend their lead the rest of the way.

Just about mid-way through the first half, Windsor TFC's Piazza sent a ball through the middle to Pio (19'), who finished strong in the bottom left corner, beating the diving Campbell.

This did not stop the visitors, who are in pursuit of one of the final playoff spots, as Sanjaxx continued to press for the equalizer and created many quality chances.

In the 89th minute the referee awarded Sanjaxx a penalty after a Windsor TFC handball in the box. Ali stepped up to the spot, but rang it directly off the crossbar, allowing Windsor to seal their first three points of the season.

The Sanjaxx Lions will remain on the road next week as they visit the Oakville Blue Devils on Sunday August 26 (4 p.m.) at Bronte, Oakville.

Windsor TFC will remain at home at McHugh, Windsor next weekend for the third week in a row as Toronto Skillz FC visit on August 26 (4 p.m.).
