Shannen Jainudeen (34', 40') headed in a brace to finish the season as DeRo United leave L'Amoreaux with a 4-1 win over Darby FC on Saturday.

Darby left one of the tallest players on the field uncontested, and Jainudeen made them pay for it in the first half, finishing a cross from Adriane Devlin and rising high to head in a corner kick only six minutes later.

Jainudeen's scores were her first two goals of the season, just in time to get her name on the score sheet as DeRo's season came to a close after not qualifying for the playoffs. Their season finishes on a high note with two consecutive wins, also coincidentaly on the birthday of DeRo head coach Peyvand Mossavat.

DeRo opened the scoring early in the game when Laura Callender hit a cross-field pass from the left wing to find Georgia Wilder (7') alone in front of Darby goalkeeper Alexa Magnus. Wilder took a couple of touches to control the ball before finishing the chance for the first goal of the match.

Darby had a chance in the middle of the first half as Giulia Giovinazzi zigzagged through the centre of the pitch to launch a low shot into the corner of the net, but DeRo goalkeeper Olivia Tierney dove in time to make the save.

Tired legs forced DeRo United to make four halftime substitutions, and Darby started the last 45 minutes of their season on the front foot. Lauryn Arruda (73') eventually broke through the defence after a penetrating through ball led to a low far-post finish past Tierney.

Amie Lin (80') finished the season with one final goal after smashing a low ball into the net from a ground cross on the right wing, making it 4-1 for DeRo. No added time was needed to settle the score as Darby and DeRo's seasons came to an end.

DeRo United (6-3-3) complete their inaugural season in sixth place with 21 points, just shy of the playoff spots in the top-four. Their goal differential sits at +8 (20 GF, 12 GA).

After winning the first game against Toronto Blizzard, Darby FC (1-10-1) struggled throughout the rest of the season, unable to win in any of their following games. They finish their third League1 Ontario season in 12th place with four points, ending with a -29 goal differential (9 GF, 38 GA).

Both teams will look to find success in 2019 as they watch the playoff-bound teams battle from afar.
