North Mississauga SC tallied two goals in the first half to ensure a 2-1 victory over Toronto Blizzard on Sunday at the Ontario Soccer Centre, Vaughan.

Madison Roberts (19') volleyed the ball into the net from a corner kick swung in by Faythe Hoyte. It was Roberts' first goal of the season.

The Panthers continued to attack the Blizzard goal. Not long after, Sara Traynor (23') took a shot that was initially saved by Blizzard goalkeeper Sabrina Graziano, and the North Mississauga forward pounced on the rebound to score her third goal of the season.

Going into halftime, it looked to be the same old story for the win-less Toronto Blizzard. The young squad of players only born in the new millennium had only scored one goal all season.

Sarah Nissan (69') changed the narrative for the young squad after a scramble in the Panthers' box led to a North Mississauga player knocking down their own goalkeeper Deanna Persico. The ball landed at Nissan's feet who tapped it in for the goal, ultimately doubling Blizzard's goal output for the season.

North Mississauga continued to attack to put pressure on the Blizzard, forcing Graziano to leave her line at the goal to rush the forwards, sweeping chances away with perfectly-timed slide tackles.

Blizzard were unable to complete the comeback for their first point of the season, but Nissan's goal was the first since a 3-1 loss to DeRo United in July. The young talent in the Toronto Blizzard played a steady game, but their lacked execution in the final third to generate meaningful chances.

North Mississauga get the win despite a depleted squad after multiple players finished their season with the Panthers to return to play for their respective colleges and universities.

Injuries to Emma Palladino and Kiana Khedoo forced them to use two early substitutions in the first half, but the two goals in the very same half proved to be enough for their second win in a row.

North Mississauga SC (4-6-0) are in ninth place with 12 points, which eliminates them from playoff contention. Their goal differential is at -12 (13 GF, 25 GA).

The Panthers only have home games scheduled for the rest of the season, but they're against strong teams fighting for the fourth-place playoff spot.

They welcome Vaughan Azzurri to the Hershey Centre in Mississauga for their next game, scheduled to kick off on August 18 (5:00 p.m.).

Toronto Blizzard (0-9-0) are in last place without a point to their name. Their goal differential sits at -28 (2 GF, 30 GA).

They play their final game of the season in the Azzurri Village, Toronto, against Hamilton United Elite on August 19 (3:45 p.m.).
