Darby FC women took on Aurora United FC at the Whitby Soccer Center, Whitby, on Tuesday evening, eventually ending up on the wrong end of the 2-1 scoreline.

Darby started the brighter of the two sides, getting a first goal early in the game. Robiero (8') received a great through ball, taking her time with the finish and placing it into the bottom right corner.

Darby controlled the possession for much of the second half, keeping the Aurora defensive line on their toes.

Just before the interval Aurora made a great attacking play towards Darby's net, winning a corner kick that Marrelli (43') was able to turn in - a score of 1-1 just before the half left everything left to play for.

Aurora started the second half strongly and were rewarded with an early goal of their own - Castellano (52') receiving a great through ball and slipping it into the bottom left corner. The rest of the half was very evenly match, despite a extended pause in play at the 74th minute the game as paramedics attended to an injured Aurora player.

This stoppage led to 14 minutes of added time, during which time Darby pushed hard to tie up the score but were unable to get through a resolute Aurora defence.

Aurora United FC will play next on August 11 (7 p.m.) against Oakville Blue Devils at Stewart Burnett Park, Aurora.

Darby FC will play next on August 12th (3:45 p.m.) against Woodbridge Strikers at  Vaughan Grove 1, Woodbridge.
