Sarah Royer's (52') lone goal proved to be the deciding factor as West Ottawa edged Darby FC 1-0 on Matchweek 11.

Despite a number of promising attacks, the first half of the match was scoreless. Midway through the first half, West Ottawa had a few minutes of dominating play. A corner kick fell right to the feet of Miranda Robinson, who managed to get two shots off but both were blocked by Darby FC defenders. West Ottawa's Odessa Strizzi followed with a long shot going just over the crossbar.

Shortly after, Strizzi found herself alone in front of her opponent's net but Darby FC goalkeeper Alyssa Spridgeon managed to dive and grab the ball from her feet. Although an exciting first half, neither team found the back of the net.

Royer's goal came just minutes into the second half. A couple of late chances from Darby FC threatened West Ottawa's lead but they managed to hold on through 90 minutes.

Royer's first goal of the season gave West Ottawa their third win of the season, putting them in ninth place. With Darby FC's seventh loss of the season they find themselves near the bottom of the women's division standings in 12th.

West Ottawa will next play DeRo United on August 11 (5:00 p.m.) at L'Amoreaux, Toronto.
