Durham United FA women's team hosted Toronto Blizzard at Kinsmen Park on Friday night and continued to keep their grip on second place in the division with a 5-0 win over the visitors.

Durham United dominated the first half of the game, with supporters not having to wait long for the first goal - scored by Kalifornia Mitchell (13') after a powerful shot from just outside the 18-yard box was placed right under the crossbar.

With Durham's fifth corner of the game, Durham's Hollie Babut put a great ball inn to find Alicia Tamburro (30'). Tamburro re-directed it with the head into the back of the net.

Just moments before the end of the first half, Durham found the insurance goal. Laura Gosse (44') received a low ball in front of the net, and with just a light redirection she guided it precisely into the back of the net. This was Gosse's seventh goal of the season, making her the leading goal scorer for Durham United.

Toronto Blizzard clearly came into the second half under heavy exhaustion. Durham wasted little time punishing their opponent, Gosse (55') scoring her second goal of the game and eighth of the season. Tamara Brown gave a great cross to find Gosse's head who adeptly redirected it into the back of the net.

Just minutes later, Tamburro (56') scored her second goal of the game, taking the ball around three players before beating the keeper. She placed the ball perfectly in the bottom right corner making the score 5-0 over Toronto.

Toronto Blizzard will play next on August 3 (7 p.m.) against Vaughan Azzurri at McNaughton Turf, Vaughan.

Durham United FA will play next on August 10 (8 p.m.) against Unionville Milken S.C. at Bill Crothers Turf Centre, Unionville.
