Durham United FA women’s team hosted West Ottawa SC at Kinsmen Park, Pickering on Sunday afternoon, with Durham United FA taking home the win after a final score of 4-0.

The first half of the game, for the most part, was very evenly matched. Both teams had great breakaways and created scoring opportunities.

West Ottawa dominated possession for the first 20 minutes of the game. They were able to take multiple shots on net but Durham United keeper, Petrucci, was not letting anything get past here. The first half ended in a 0-0 tie.

The second half started with a lot of adjustments to the lineups on the field, both coaches tinkering and strategizing with their squads.

The first goal was scored by Durham United player Tamburro (47') just moments after getting into the game. Tamburro had a ball drop right to her feet in the West Ottawa 18-yard box, so she swivelled, took a low shot, and hit the back of the net in the bottom right corner.

Durham United got their second goal of the game through Babut (66'). Babut hit her opportunity first-time and sent the ball into the right corner of the net.

Just a few minutes later, Tamburro (70) got her second goal of the game, hammering a powerful shot from just outside of the 18-yard box that smashed into the back of the net.

After the fourth official indicated that there would be a minimum of three minutes added time, Durham United scored their fourth goal of the game. Gosse (90' + 1') received a long ball from her defensive line, brought the ball down quickly, and cracked a quick shot that nestled into the back of the net. This was Laura Gosse's sixth goal of the season.

West Ottawa SC will play next on July 28 (4 p.m.) at Wesley Clover Turf, Ottawa against Darby FC.

Durham United FA will play next on July 27 (7:30 p.m.) against Toronto Azzurri Blizzard at Kinsmen Park, Pickering.
