A sensational performance from Unionville Miliken SC's Levanta Staggolis sent them to the 2018 L1 Cup Finals after a 0-0 (4-3 pk) Semi-Final win over the hosts, Vaughan Azzurri SC.

Staggolis stole the show in Sunday's L1 Cup Semi-Final between Unionville Miliken SC and the Vaughan Azzurri SC after making seven saves during the ninety minutes, and then two PK saves in the tiebreaker that ultimately led Unionville to their first ever L1 Cup Final.

Staggolis was called into action early, the Unionville Miliken SC keeper making a fantastic reflex save on a Vaughan corner kick that was headed on goal from inside the six-yard box. Staggolis got down and kept the ball out with a great outstretched leg save.

The Vaughan Azzurri dominated possession in the first half and thought they had the opening goal in the 19th minute, but the linesman had his flag up and the game remained tied. Vaughan kept pushing in the first half with four corners and five shots on target, but none could find away to beat Staggolis.

The second half was similar to the first, as Vaughan had most of the possession but could not find the back of the net. Meanwhile, Unionville had a couple great counter-attacks that almost lead to them taking the lead.

The final ten minutes of the match demonstrated some spectacular goalkeeping from both Staggolis and Vaughan's Katrina Haarmann, both keepers making sensational saves to keep the game level at zero, and take the Semi Final affair into PKs.

Vaughan's Sarah Wong-Yin Sang opened the scoring in penalties but Unionville's Sierra Henderson-Muschett quickly tied it up.

Vaughan's second shooter, Claudia Piazza, was denied by Staggolis and Unioville's Robertson would then convert giving them the 2-1 lead. Nour Ghoneim made no mistake, to briefly tie it up for Vaughan, but Natasha Klasios would then score to give Unionville the 3-2 lead.

Vaughan’s fourth shot, taken by Kiyani Johnson, was stopped by Staggolis, but Haarmann replied with a save on Cheung to keep Vaughan in with a chance at 3-2.

Falkenstein scored for Vaughan to make it 3-3, but it was all set up for the winner then as Unionville's Kendall Macauly cooly converted and advanced her team through to the Cup Final.

With the PK win, Unionville Miliken SC will meet the winner of Sunday's L1 Cup Semi-Final featuring Woodbridge Strikers vs De Ro United FC.

Unionville Miliken SC will visit Vaughan Grove, Woodbridge on July 29 (3:45 p.m.) to take on the Woodbridge Strikers.

Vaughan Azzuri will travel to L'Amoreaux, Toronto on July 28 (4:30 p.m.) to take on De Ro United FC.
