Darby FC took on the leaders of the women's division, FC London, at Clarington field, Darlington on Saturday afternoon, giving a exhibition of grit and determination, but London took home the win with a final score of 1-0.

In the 11th minute, Darby goalkeeper Alyssa Spridgeon made a risky tackle just inside her box, earning a caution and giving London a penalty kick. Marisa Oliveira (12') neatly dispatched the penalty to give the visitors and early lead.

In the 55th minute the referee had to break up a little tussle between Darby player, Johnson, and London player, Campbell. They were both awarded cautions. Both teams were fighting hard to keep the ball out of their net in a fairly evenly matched game.

In the 70th minute Darby player, Hubble, received a caution following a late tackle. Just a few moments later in the 74th minute, London player, Campbell, received a second yellow for dissent and was dismissed from the game.

With the pressure rising, London head coach Michael Marcoccia was also ejected in the 77th minute.

With a minimum of six minutes extra time, Darby pushed even harder for the equalizer, but in the second minute of extra time Darby player, Hubble, received her second yellow card for dissent and was dismissed from the game. Darby could not reassemble after the dismissal and London left with the victory.
