A two goal performance capped off by a winner minutes from full-time ensured West Ottawa SC grabbed a 3-0 victory over hosts Toronto Azzurri Blizzard in Matchweek 9 action.

West Ottawa came out strong to start the match, moving the ball nicely near the 18 yard-box.

Winger Crystal Schuder (2') found the back of the net right away, dribbling by the Blizzard backline with ease and tucking in her fourth of the season.

Even though they were down a goal, the Blizzard didn't just allow West Ottawa to take control of the match. The home side won a handful of balls in the middle of the pitch throughout the match, however what did haunt them was finding that crucial last pass to go through on goal.

Something the Azzurri Blizzard can take from this match is how keeper Luxshala Govindarajan made three key saves to keep her team in the match. Her acrobatic saves - one of which she parried off the crossbar - was something to be seen.

When the second half began, it was all West Ottawa, forcing shots from distance and playing well-timed through balls through the Blizzard back-line. Although they would finish the match with eight shots on target and 12 off, the visiting side extended their lead off another strike from Schuder (75'), who earned her first two goal performance of the season.

West Ottawa's attacking midfielder Emily Amano was another player to watch for in this match. Whenever she received the ball, she took on defenders with ease, and unselfishly looked for her teammates when near goal.

Amano (85') would be rewarded for her stellar play with a late and was able to help her side grab three points and continue their fine run of form.

When asked after the match about which players stood out, West Ottawa assistant coach Tracy Vaillancourt spoke highly of goal scorers Schuder and Amano, and the strong play of centre back Julia Bailey.

With the win, West Ottawa now improve to 2-5-1 (7 points) and have gone 2-0-1 in their last three outings.

As for the Toronto Azzurri Blizzard, they will travel to take on Durham United FA on July 27 (7:30 p.m.) at Kinsmen Park Turf.
