A Claire Larose hat-trick (6', 15', 62') helped FC London continue their remarkable run of form by winning 4-2 over North Mississauga SC, earning their sixth consecutive league victory.
Both sides set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and, although the league and FC London best goal scorer Jade Kovacevic was absent due to injury, FC London came out swinging and got on the score sheet early.
On six minutes Claire Larose received a long ball in the edge of the box and sent it to the middle of the net with a chip. Just nine minutes later, North Mississauga's defenders left Larose unmarked, and she took advantage of that to double the lead with a precise shot from inside the box.
North Mississauga could only manage one shot on target in the half and converted it into a goal; Jackson Bennett (33') scored with a tap-in after a corner from the right side.
Three minutes later FC London scored again, this time through Ashley Campbell (36'), who was first denied by the keeper in an almost one-on-one situation and then sent the ball into the back of the net after the rebound.
The second half had the same story - FC London controlling the game and pinning back North Mississauga in their own half.
Just like the first half, North Mississauga scored on a corner after FC London keeper Alana Richardson couldn't control the ball completely on a header and dropped the ball; Cassandra Briscoe (52') was there and ready to send it into the net.
FC London's plan A for scoring was clearly getting in behind the opponents' defence as early as possible, and they tried that many times.
Though their players were caught in offside positions five times, the fourth goal came from exactly this type of situation, Larose completing her hat-trick.
After the fourth goal, FC London kept pushing forward to extend the difference - they managed 13 shots on target and hit the post two times - but ultimately the match ended 4-2.
It was North Mississauga's second consecutive defeat after winning two matches in a row.
North Mississauga S.C.'s next match is against Hamilton United Elite on Friday, July 13 (8 p.m) at Ron Joyce Stadium, Hamilton.
FC London will face Darby FC at Darlington Sports Facility on Saturday, July 14 (5:30 p.m).
