Two quick goals, from Cathryn Rogers (3') and Jessica Lisi (6'), were squandered by an Aurora FC comeback late in the game, but a rocket from centre back Diamond Simpson (87') sealed the Woodbridge Strikers' three points at home in Matchweek Six.

Woodbridge would start the match in a 3-5-2 formation against Aurora's 4-5-1, which allowed the wings to be occupied by the home side's speedy wingbacks.

Both of the home side's early goals came from a left sided cross inside the 18 yard box.

Aurora got back in the match when winger Paige Murray (16') received a pass inside the box, turned past her marker and slotted it right under the rushing keeper.

Aurora FC keeper Meghan Phillips was kept busy throughout the first 45 minutes, making six saves and capping it off with a spectacular save in the 45th minute to keep her side in the match.

The second half saw Aurora switch to a 4-3-3, as they were looking for the equalizing goal. With Woodbridge playing with two outside backs, the middle of the pitch was dominated by AFC's fast and physical central midfielders.

One of those midfielders, Cloey Uddenberg (81') was able to level the match up off a free kick from the left of the box, as striker Samantha Murphy played a low pass in front of the goal and Uddenberg chipped it.

The match seemed like it would end up as a draw and both teams would head home with a point, until Woodbridge centre-back Diamond Simpson (87') rushed forward to join the attack and fired a shot from 25 yards out that went straight into the top right corner for the 3-2 lead and the eventual winner.

With the win, Woodbridge improve to 2-0-2 (8 points) and are tied for sixth with Unionville-Milliken SC. As for Aurora, they fall to 1-4-0 (3 points).
