Darby FC took on North Mississauga at the Whitby Soccer Centre on Friday night in a back and forth contest that ended 4-1 in favour of the visiting Mississaugans.
The first 15 minutes of the game were very evenly matched, with great attacking plays from both teams.
Julia Crnjac (17') scored her first goal of the game and her first goal of the season inside the first 20 minutes, and it would not be the last time her name was mentioned in this match.
Crnjac found the breakthrough after the Darby goalkeeper was drawn out of her net, a ball was quickly crossed into Crnjac, and she finished right down the middle of the net.
Crnjac (29') was back at it minutes later, scoring her second goal of the game into the bottom right corner. The Darby goalkeeper was drawn too far out of her net again, leaving an empty net for Crnjac to finish.
With a changed formation, Darby FC came out in the second half looking a changed side, with a lot more control on the game. Both teams were fighting hard throughout the second half of this game but North Mississauga scored first through Sara Traynor (84'), when she was able to beat the keeper for another low shot in the corner.
Just a minute later the fourth goal of the game flew in, this time by North Mississauga's Carla Portilla (85').
Portilla rounded the keeper and pressuring defenders to find a perfectly placed ball through a gap and into the bottom right corner.
In the 89th minute of the game North Mississauga player, Lefebvre was cautioned with a yellow card after fouling in the area and giving Darby a penalty kick.
Darby's Tori Chia (89') deposited the penalty into the middle right side of the net to finish the game with a 5-1 win for North Mississauga.
Darby FC's next game will be on Friday June 15 (8 p.m.) against Hamilton United Elite at the Whitby Soccer Centre.
