Durham United FA continued their remarkable run of form by putting four goals past Hamilton United Elite and keeping a clean sheet to earn their fifth consecutive victory.

Durham United started the match off in a 4-3-2-1 formation against Hamilton United's 4-4-2 diamond.

The first half was almost balanced and played more in the middle of the field. The first chance of the game was created at the 13th minute when Hamilton's Tanja Vucenovic' low drive from inside the box was parried by Durham’s goalkeeper Sara Petrucci.

Durham took the lead through Keona Simmonds (28'); it seemed Laura Gosse's shot from the edge of the box was going wide, but abruptly Simmonds appeared on the scene and hit the net from close range.

Hamilton changed their formation to 4-3-3 for the second half, pushing forward to get back on level terms, but Durham's defensive plan seemed seamless; the host wanted to keep the rival off of the score sheet first and extend the lead through counter-attacks next.

Durham's game plan worked perfectly as they found the net three more times in the last ten minutes.

Diarra Simmons (80'), who came off the bench, first slid in on a low cross from the right side to double the lead. Three minutes later, a shot from distance dinged the post and Simone Wark (83') sent the ball into the back of the net in rebound.

Finally, it was Simmons who scored again (90 + 1'); this time, she took on two of Hamilton's players and slipped the ball under goalkeeper Marilena Spagnolo's body to register a 4-0 win for Durham over Hamilton.

After losing in the first week against DeRo United FC (2-0), Durham have won all of their five matches and kept a clean sheet in four of them.

On the other hand, for the second consecutive week, Hamilton got no point, though they had a good start to the season by earning ten points from the first four matches.

Durham United FA's next match in the league is against FC London on Saturday, June 16 (8 p.m) at German Canadian FC Stadium Field.

Hamilton United Elite will face Darby FC at Whitby Soccer Centre on Friday, June 15 (8 p.m).
