North Mississauga SC got their first win of the 2018 season after a nail biting 3-2 win over the Oakville Blue Devils on Saturday evening.

The game was high energy right from the get-go, as North Mississauga's Jackson Bennett (4') got the early goal for her team after a cross was swung in from the corner kick and she neatly finished into the right side of the net.

Both teams fought for possession with most of the play happening in the middle third of the pitch. North Mississauga would have slightly more possession and control looking for their second goal.

North Mississauga's Cassandra Briscoe slotted a through ball for her sister Carla Briscoe (27') who beat the keeper and finished in the back of the net giving North Mississauga the two-goal lead.

Oakville Blue Devils would answer back minutes later as Oshay Lawes sent a long ball from the left side of the field for Laura Twidle (34'), who beat the keeper and slotted the ball past two defenders to get her team on the scoreboard.

Twidle was having some success getting in behind North Mississauga’s defensive line in the last ten minutes and another goal for Oakville Blue Devils looked promising before the half.

In the 37th minute of play, minutes after her goal, Twidle was pulled down in the box as the referee awarded a penalty shot. She stepped up to take the kick but missed just left of the post keeping the score 2-1 in favour of North Mississauga at the half.

The second half was nothing but exciting as the Oakville Blue Devils maintained more possession and were pressuring for their equalizer.

Maya Pascal would send a long ball over top to Lawes (62') who beat the North Mississauga goalkeeper Anna Maclean to the ball and chipped her to equalize the game 2-2.

A fast-paced second half continued, with both teams still displaying lots of energy as they had five shots a piece and created lots of action at both ends of the pitch.

Notably, Oakville Blue Devils' Claudia Eustaquio made two big saves to keep the score equalized.

A break would come late in the game as Cassandra Briscoe got another assist after slotting through Carla Portillo (76') on the left flank, who made no mistake finishing in the back of the net to put her team up 3-2.

Oakville Blue Devils fought until the final whistle looking to equalize again but couldn't quite finish their chances.
