Sanjaxx Lions earned their first win of the season on the road as they edged out Pro Stars FC in a 3-0 battle after captain Rowe (11') opened the scoring early for Sanjaxx and led his team to victory.

Both teams came out strong, with great scoring opportunities in the first half – however Sanjaxx led at half as Pro Stars' keeper Stachiowak struggled to settle in – while Pro Stars FC did not let up all half and kept pressing, earning corner kicks and forcing free kick opportunities.

Pro Stars FC goalkeeper Stachiowak was kept busy in the second half as well, but was up to the challenge, making athletic saves initiating counter-attacks. Unfortunately for the Stars, a couple defensive lapses from the defence allowed Sanjaxx to find the back of the net twice in the second half.

At the other end of the pitch, Sanjaxx keeper Campbell brought his A-game as he kept out every shot he faced. Sanjaxx Lions were the more aggressive of the two clubs and fell into foul trouble, tallying 13 fouls on the night.

Rowe (11'), Gordon (54') and Rodney-Scarlett (90') proved to be offensive threats as they each claimed a goal, and are now tied as club leaders in the early season goals scored category.

With the win, Sanjaxx snaps their losing streak and earns a first win after two close matches to open the season.

Sanjaxx Lions will next play Woodbridge Strikers on June 3 (2:00 p.m.) at Monarch Park.
