Vaughan Azzurri had a strong second half to beat West Ottawa 5-2.

Vaughan opened scoring when Kiyani Johnson (4') puts home a Mollie Eriksson rebound. West Ottawa responded right off the re-start when Clarissa Larisey (6') made it 1-1.

Late in the first half, Vaughan defender Sonia Boucher went down with a serious injury after a tough challenge in her own box with a West Ottawa attacker. After a lengthy delay, Boucher was unable to continue and was subbed off.

After finishing the first half on even ground, Vaughan explode out of the break when Colleen Beesley (46') puts Vaughan ahead in the first minute of the second half.

Four minutes later Nour Ghoneim would then get her first of two in the game (49’, 69'), when she pounced on another rebound at the top of the West Ottawa box.

It easily could have been more for Vaughan midway through the second half, except Mollie Eriksson came up huge for West Ottawa with two big saves when called upon.

Cassandre Van Bakel (58') would notch her second of the season with a cracker of a strike from outside the West Ottawa box.

West Ottawa finished strong with Odessa Strizzi (73') clawing one back to make the final 5-2.

Now winless in three, West Ottawa will look to break the streak when they travel to play Unionville Milliken on May 19 (4 p.m.) at Bill Crothers Turf.

Vaughan SC returns home to host Darby FC next on May 19 (2 p.m.) at McNaughton Turf.
