Oakville Blue Devils defeated Unionville Milliken FC 1-nil in a cagey affair at Sheridan College Stadium.

Anthony Novak (14') struck early for the hosts, who remain at the top of the table with six points and through two matches.

Novak, who bagged a hat-trick against Toronto Skillz in Oakville’s opener, now has a league-leading four goals on the season.

The defending champion Blue Devils were pushed throughout the match by the visitors, with neither sides being able to create much in the way of quality chances.

Unionville tried to push forward late in the half, but Oakville keeper Karman Saini smartly gathered an attempted through-ball into the Blue Devils'  box.

The intensity picked up in the second half, with both sides collecting a number of yellow cards for late aggressive tackles.

Unionville directed a couple of shots on the Oakville net, but Saini was never really challenged. The visitors continued to push forward in numbers and apply pressure, but could not create a decisive opportunity.

Late in stoppage time, the teams came together and Unionville's Jalen Brome and Dena Iazady were both sent off with straight red cards.

Next up for the Blue Devils is a road match-up with Master’s Futbol on May 12th (8 p.m.) at L'Amoreaux #1.
