The points were shared after a grueling tug-of-war between hosts Unionville-Milliken SC and Oakville Blue Devils, defined by two equalizers from the visitors either side of the half-time whistle.

Oakville's Emily Kuta (35') cancelled out Tina Lacava's 27th minute goal for UMSC, and a late Natalie Bukovec equalizer (84') for the visitors in response to Kendell Macauly's strike (54') for Unionville ensured the game ended in a stalemate.

Despite early pressure from Oakville, UMSC took the lead through Tina Lacava after her initial shot was saved; the rebound fell kindly for her to put the hosts 1-0 up.

However, an early tactical substitution by Blue Devils' coach John Yacou paid dividends as substitute Emily Kuta beat two defenders and finished emphatically at the near post to equalize. Both teams had opportunities to take the lead before half-time, but a draw was a fair reflection at the interval.

Unionville started the stronger of the two sides in the second half.

Kendell Macauly's driving run inside the box and top corner finish eventually gave the hosts a deserved lead. A goal-line clearance and a good save by Oakville keeper Rachel Yerxa meant that the gap stayed at one goal.

Unionville were the better team during this spell, but failure to capitalize on these opportunities opened the door for the visitors.

Oakville's coach Yacou brought on Natalie Bukovec with twenty minutes left to play, and in the 84th minute this decision earned his team another equalizer, when Bukovec' looping shot from outside the box beat the Unionville goalkeeper.

The Blue Devils sensed an opportunity to take the lead in the final minutes, but the hosts held on to secure a point in their first home fixture.

UMSC (1-1-0) remain unbeaten and play Hamilton United Elite next at Ron Joyce Stadium on Friday, May 11 (8:00 PM kick-off).

Oakville Blue Devils (0-1-0) will host Durham United FA on Sunday, May 13 (4:00 PM kick-off) at Sheridan Trafalgar Campus.
