Durham United FA earned a comprehensive away win at Terry Fox South, Ottawa, as a Tyrell Rayne (43', 61', 65') hat-trick led Durham to a 7-2 result over OSU Force.

"We started well and kept the ball nicely, and although we played in spurts at the beginning we did finish, which is the difference in this league," said Durham team official, Desmond Warner.

"Sometimes you don't finish and you don't get the results you want, but today we took our chances."

A Hayden Clarke (36', 54') brace and singles from Omari Cotterel (85') and Cameron Brooks (89') completed the scoring for Durham, while Seth Grant (51') and George Anthony El-Asmar (56') scored the two markers for the Force.

"Well we thought if we moved the ball and kept it circulating then we could get the other team chasing and tire them out and get our chances," said Warner. "That is we did, and we finished those chances. We did it better in the second half than the first."

"I thought Tyrell and Hayden did very well, as well as Omari, who had his first start today," he added.

"He got a goal, but more importantly he played very well. He pressed and held up the ball when he had to. I was very pleased with everybody actually, I thought the team played well."

For OSU, who sit sixth in the men's east division, the late season opportunity to prepare next year's stock of regulars was the main focus. However, the team were not out of the contest until late in the second half, drawing the match with goals from Grant and El-Asmar before losing steam in the late going.

"In the second half we had to adjust because we had three injuries by half-time," said OSU head coach, Traian Matheas.

"Having only one player remaining that we have used in the League1 team throughout the season is tough, very tough, also. The younger guys are eager, they want to do it but it is very hard for them to connect with the older players. But they have the desire and they are here to help, learn, and challenge themselves - I love that."

"In terms of going forward, we have to give the younger guys a chance," he concluded.

"Next year if they are going to step in, they will know why the extensive training and preparation is necessary. It's that simple."

OSU Force will next play Vaughan Azzurri on September 24 at McNaughton Turf, Vaughan.

Durham United FA will next play Toronto Skillz on September 22 at Kinsmen Park, Pickering.
