Neither side could best the other as Aurora FC and Durham United FA ground out a scoreless draw in Matchweek 20.

"I felt that we had a lot of opportunities but just couldn't execute," said Aurora team official, John Yacou.

"The girls move the ball around well, it was just one of those frustrating games when it just doesn't fall for you."

"I feel that we were a little stronger in the first half, but Durham came out and matched the intensity in the second half. They had a few good opportunities as well so in the end it was more of an even game."

Clean sheets for Durham's Emma Chisholm and Aurora's Quinn Josiah were the highlights in a match that saw both sides focus on youth and defensive principles.

"It was a really good game against a tough opponent," said Durham team official Armin Mohammadi.

"Aurora has quality players and a great group of girls. For us, we have a lot of our younger girls and players that have never really played together coming in there so it was always going to be difficult for them to do the job."

"You could see in the first half that we wanted them to stay really compact and defensive, and try to prevent them from getting into the space behind us. The girls did that and in the moments where Aurora were able to play our keeper Emma was able to guide the back-line and pick up any balls played behind."

"It carried over into the second half and we even got a chance right away on the counter-attack and hit the post. There is not much more you can ask of the girls and they did what we asked. You hope to see more of them progress into the next game and into the future, that's what it is is about - the growth of the program."

Aurora FC will next play Vaughan Azzurri on September 24 at McNaughton Turf, Vaughan.

Durham United FA will next play FC London on September 14 at German Canadian Club, London.
