FC London's Jade Kovacevic (9', 17', 37') scored a hat-trick to keep her three goals clear at the top of the Golden Boot race, and single-handedly put the team's Matchweek 14 fixture against Woodbridge Strikers out of reach, before team-mates Marisa Oliveira (39') and Keira Zeledon (76') added two more to create a 5-1 final scoreline.

"The game as a whole, I think there were some really good areas of improvement by us," said FC London head coach, Michael Marcoccia.

"Our first half performance I thought was excellent and we executed the gameplan very well. I think there were some really bright moments."

"Woodbridge is a really good team so to come here and come away with the result is a very good thing."

"Jade's execution in the first half was exceptional," he added. "I think she had three chances and three great goals, and the other two were great too."

Woodbridge had a much more positive second half performance however, and Hannah Christophe (48') gave the Strikers their lone goal just after the restart.

"Again it was difficult, we had five or six new players on the field and they don't know each other, but I have to hand it to them second half," said Woodbridge head coach, Dave Porco.

"The players created more chances and scored a goal. I was happy with that. I just asked them at half-time to improve on what they needed to do as individual players. I think the second half you saw that."

"We created some chances, we just missed some chances."

With less than a week until these two teams meet in the women's L1 Cup final, many will be wondering if Woodbridge can find another gear. With the result, London must also manage the "favourite" tag carefully.

"It gives both sets of coaches a chance to analyse the other team, and we do a lot of video analysis, so we'll go back and watch this match and see if we can find areas of improvement," said Marcoccia.

"It gives both teams a much better shot at winning the next match because there is additional preparation that can be done."

"They are going to see a different team," revealed Porco.

"I will have my U21s and 2000s back, and I expect London will see a different team and a much different game. It's the finals, we want to make it a different performance."

Woodbridge Strikers will next play Aurora FC on August 13 at Vaughan Grove, Woodbridge.

FC London will next play Vaughan Azzurri on August 2 at German Canadian Club, London.
