It was never say die for West Ottawa SC in their second match in two days on Matchweek Eight, but Woodbridge Strikers had their shooting boots on and after goals from Jessica Lisi (3', 71'), Lauren Raimondo (14') and Katalin Tolnai (26') - the Strikers won 3-2.

"It was back and forth, not the best defence from either side, and we were lucky enough to score more than they did," said Woodbridge head coach, Dave Porco.

West Ottawa's Emily Copeland-Dinan (7') levelled the scoreline after a surprise Lisi goal within minutes, and a strike from Olivia Cooke (38') left Ottawa only one goal adrift at half-time.

"We came out and had a very slow start," said Kiss.

"We were down to thirteen players this weekend, and we had a game yesterday. I think we had tired legs in the first half and we managed to stay in the game, but definitely a better second half. They just put their chances away and we didn't."

A late Arielle Kabangu (78') strike threatened a late comeback, and West Ottawa's Kiss praised the consistent goalscoring form of Kabangu and Cooke, but that the team just didn't have the legs and, in some cases, the necessary amount of belief.

"Arielle is still trying to hit her stride, but she is definitely very very dangerous with the ball at her feet," said Kiss.

"Olivia is a real workhorse and she has the range too. She could shoot from 35-40 yards out and hit the target. Two very good and dangerous players and we've been happy with them."

"But we would like to see a quicker start, and just more confidence in the team as a whole," she added.

"I think they need to believe they are in the right league and they can compete with every team in this league. It's just about getting the confidence up and getting the right start."

Woodbridge Strikers will next play West Ottawa SC on June 23 at Beckwith Turf, Ottawa.
