Darby dropped Aurora FC in their second match of the 2017 season on Friday, coming back from an early Aurora goal by Chloe Chefero (4') to win 3-1 after second half goals from Tori Chia (74'), Delanee Judd (87') and Lauryn Arruda (90 + 1').

"I think overall it was a good game on our part," said Darby head coach, Mirco Schroff.

"We tried to stick to our game-plan, making sure that we didn't give them much room to play, which didn't work out the first five minutes because they basically scored with their first chance."

"I thought it was pretty obvious early on that our success would come through the wide areas," he added.

"We had the advantage of speed today I think, and the ability to take players on, penetrate into the box and create a number of chances. It wasn't until late in the game that we capitalized on those. We could have had a few moments before those if we were a bit more composed and mature to put the ball away."

Aurora head coach Gianni Cimini was proud of the way his team started the match, and felt it was just the team's ability to see through results - and composure to do so - was lacking.

"I thought for the majority of the game we tried to stay a little disciplined," he said. "Again we're a young team and we came out very aggressive and confident and I was happy with them."

"They just have to learn how to close games off in those situations. It becomes difficult because they will not control the game for the whole time so they have to be better at adjusting when the tempo and the rhythm of the game goes against them."

"We asked them to be a little more patient in the second half because we thought they were turning the ball over a little too easily. We told them there was a lot of space to connect passes off every regain in possession and actually we demanded a little more build-up when we did regain possession. We wanted better connection on final passes near their eighteen yard box and we felt that when we did connect these passes we were able to expose them."

"Again, we are young team and an older more physical team will be able to defend that direct ball in behind a little more easily, so we had to combine quickly to expose them."

After a difficult first League1 season in 2016, Darby head coach Mirco Schroff was proud of the ability and maturity his side showed to bounce back from an early deficit and manage the result.

"I think it is our vulnerability right now with a young team, where if we get scored on we can easily switch into that mode of lack of self-belief," he said.

"At half-time we kept hammering away the same message, that were were strong in wide areas and we thought we were technically the better team on the night and moving the ball better. Possession wise we felt we had an advantage and the opportunity to create more chances in the second half."

"We knew as soon as we scored one that it was probably going to go our way tonight and it finally happened."
