Jade Kovacevic (4', 11', 19', 59', 85') virtually clinched the 2016 Golden Boot, and led FC London to the top of the league table, after scoring an astounding five goals against Sanjaxx Lions in matchweek eighteen.

"When one person scores that many goals you would assume it was a one person show but it was far from that," said FC London head coach, Mike Marcoccia.

"The build-up and chances created for Jade were wonderful."

Denise Fortin (90 +1') added a single in the six goal rout of the Lions at German Canadian "The Cove" facility in London, while keeper Emily Gillett kept the clean sheet.

"We always focus on building up from the back obviously, so we wanted to play through each and every position and I think tonight our number ten Marisa [Olivera] was very good tonight and made herself available with clear passing lines," continued Marcoccia.

"We have a style of play that is very concrete and distinct within our team and I think that's the reason we score so much," confirmed Kovacevic.

"We are successful this season because our service is so good and we're able to find a team's weakness. My team is always on fire and that's why we're doing so well."

"I think we're able to pretty much attack from anywhere on the field," she added. "We're very dynamic and we're good at finding the spaces between lines of pressure and I think that we executed that well tonight."

Sanjaxx head coach Laza Lowe focused on his team's performance and overall growth as a unit, rather than the final scoreline.

"We tried to compete, but London is a very good team and my players are younger players so it's about trying to compete at that level," he explained.

"We'll get there, it's just a matter of time."

"We did pretty well tonight," he continued. "There were breakdowns at certain points in the game and when you play older or more experienced teams you get punished for the mistakes you make so we'll look to clean it up and keep the ball for a more sustained period of time and it will be okay."

FC London showed the depth of their team as various players return to their college and university programs.

"Ultimately we had a plan from the beginning of the season and regardless of which players were in each respective game everyone knew their role," said Marcoccia.

"When you lose some of your top performing players, you would assume there would be a decline but the players that have stepped up and came into those positions have done really really well," he concluded.

"Someone like Alice Clements who has played ninety minutes tonight, she did a really good job and was an important part of our buildup. You look at Sarah Van Der Laan who has been one of the top defenders in the last two or three matches here, she has really stepped up also."

"When you have quality players like that at the back it allows us to play the way we want to."

With the result, FC London goes top of the women's division with 36 points from 14 matches.

London now heads into a final two match end-of-season schedule against second place team, Woodbridge Strikers (33 pts), and fourth place team, Durham United FA (24 pts), to determine the champion of the 2016 League1 Ontario women's division.
