League1 west division All-Star Jose Melo (40', 66', 85') led the way with three goals for North Mississauga Panthers en route to an 8-2 win over hosts Master's FA Saints on Saturday.

Lee-Victor Massunda (7'), Jordan Montoya (37') and Melo put the away side up 3-0 by the half-time break.

"We dominated the first half, missed four chances, and then they came down and scored twice on us," said Masters' technical director, Junior Groves. "How does that work? But, it happens."

"I'm tired of the excuses, now we're getting the personnel together, which is good, but some key personnel today couldn't make it back from their commitment to a Red Cross camp and so we ran into a problem again today at our centre-back position," he explained.

"It is looking much better though on the field, but we just have this problem where we build, attack, don't score, and then the other team comes down and scores and then our player's heads drop. I can understand the psychology of football, and we will fix it."

Panthers Jose De Sousa (48') and Bradley Fenton (58') added to the misery for Masters, before an own goal on the hour mark added salt to the wound.

Melo's second half brace completed an eight goal haul for North Miss on the night, but Masters kept plugging away, scoring two second half markers through Isaiah Page (76') and Tyrell Rayne (90').

"The boys know how good they are, they know they are not five nil different, or six nil different, so they are going to play," said Groves. "It's just that we can't get the ball in the back of the net."

"Man to man we win the game, but we just can't seem to score and sometimes that's football when we're developing and building and we have some young players out there," he concluded.

"All in all, we actually looked better as a team. The score doesn't show it again but we looked better as a team so I'm pleased."

North Mississauga head coach Rick Titus was unavailable for interview.
