Former Canada junior international Emily Borgmann (26', 63') scored a brace, while strike partner and Jamaica U20 Oshay Lawes (70') added a single to topple visitors Aurora United FC on Friday night.

North Miss keeper Tori Edgar claimed the clean sheet.

"We have spent a lot of time on our team shape and how we would like to see the twin forwards support each other, linking with our midfield and creating more scoring opportunities," said North Miss assistant coach, Trevor Bertrand.

"I do believe now we are playing as a unit and understanding our roles on the field," he added. "The defense has been solid in keeping shape and most of all challenging all shots."

Aurora head coach Armin Mohammadi lamented the lack of goals from his side, but was happy in the round with his team's performance.

"It was a good game, back and forth," he said. "They are a very dangerous team to play on the counter attack. They have a lot of speed and talented players upfront so they did end up catching us a few times."

"But, for the most part, I felt we dealt with it, and we created our chances but we lacked the final ball. In the end that's what you need to score games, right?"

"Credit to North Miss, they executed their plan well," he concluded. "We had our chances, we played well so there's nothing to say but to look forward to our next game."

Asked if the 2015 defending Cup champions' North Miss were feeling the effects of their L1 Cup exit in the previous week, Bertrand said his side were doing well to put events into perspective and moving on.

"We consoled ourselves with the fact that we were victorious against the first place team, also the third place team, and tied the second place team, but as you know we lost on penalty kicks," he said.

"However, the team remains undefeated in five games."

"The girls are full of confidence but never overconfident," he concluded. "Hard work will always pay off."
