Aurora United FC stuck away two goals to Kingston Clippers one and left the home fortress that has been Kingston's Queen's University home grounds with a 2-1 win on Saturday.

Aurora's Jessica Mithrush (37') put the home side ahead just before the break, but Kingston's Melissa Harrison (42') levelled terms just before the half-time whistle.

Aurora's Alanna Manning (83') nailed the winner with less than ten minutes remaining, leaving Aurora's head coach Ramin Mohammadi to reflect on a positive away performance from his charges.

"I think the girls did well tonight, they each put in one hundred and twenty per cent and we had very little cover from the bench," said Mohammadi. "They focused on the plan and completed what we told them before the game and at half-time. We scored a goal that was basically what we spoke about before the game."

"This result wasn't easy - Kingston is a very good team with some excellent players and coaching, and the match was entertaining - but I'm just glad that we got the three points."

Kingston's technical director Chris Eveleigh found positives in the community support, but less so in the pre-match conduct of his players.

"The next step is for the girls to really understand the league that they are in, and the professional environment that we are trying to create here," he said.

"There was a great crowd here today, I think it inspired the girls and it showed that the next generation of Clippers is going to be great. Having said that, as individuals I don't think the team adequately prepared for the game today."

Aurora United FC is back at home on July 16 (4 p.m.) at Sheppard's Bush, Aurora against league leaders FC London.

Kingston Clippers are away to Sanjaxx Lions on July 30 (3 p.m.) at Monarch Park, Toronto.
