Durham United FA continued their red-hot form with a 7-3 result at the expense of Toronto FC Academy.

"I wouldn't say it was a dominant performance," said Durham head coach, Sanford Carabin. "It would look that way from the scoreline because we scored seven goals, but defensively we were very poor."

"It's unlike our team to concede like that. We just have to make sure we put both facets of the game together."

Kashiff De Jonge scored a whopping four goals (10', 45+5', 56', 70'), having a breakout match after several standout performances in the first third of the season.

"It was just a matter of time before he got a run of goals like that," said Carabin. "In training he is banging them away left right and centre. He's just gone to another level this year, he's got his confidence, he's a leader in our team, we've made him a captain and he just leads by example."

Stefan Lamanna (9') and Matt Stowell (24') added singles, while an own goal by the Junior Reds' Dante Campbell finished off the goal count for Durham.

"Offensively it was good for a few players to break out," said Carabin. "A little bit of inexperience in their backline gifted us some chances we wouldn't usually get in this league. We took advantage of that, but our dressing room right now is very quiet because I think the boys know they won the game but our performance overall wasn't what it has been in the past three games."

Not all went according to play for Durham, with Mike Direnzo dismissed (53') just after the break. Torono FC Academy also launched a comeback through Jordan Faria (50'), Riley Ferrazzo (74') and Steffen Yeates (90+3'), but had a mountain to climb.

"We made a slew of errors on the day and on another day when we're solid in the back-line, I don't think we cough up seven goals," said Toronto FC Academy head coach, Stuart Neely.

"Having said that, we did and we have to deal with that. We lost our composure early on and four major mistakes cost us four early goals. Outside of that I think we stuck to our developmental principles, we kept the ball well, we played football and at the same time we pushed them to learn to get a result. "

Now on nineteen points, Durham is three points behind Woodbridge in first and have a game in hand on the leaders. Vaughan Azzurri is only one point ahead of Durham in second place.

Durham plays away to Sanjaxx Lions on June 25 (6 p.m.) at Monarch Park, Toronto.

Toronto FC Academy is in sixth position in the west division on six points, and plays at home grounds Kia Training Grounds, Toronto, against Woodbridge Strikers on June 26 (3 p.m.).
