Aurora United FC women probably thought their work was done by half-time as they went to the dressing rooms 3-nil over Kingston Clippers courtesy of a brace from Canada U20 player Sarah Stratigakis (18', 30') and a single from Meghan Reynolds (44').

But the Clippers would have other ideas, and as they have already shown against Woodbridge, London and Durham - the Kingston team is capable of fighting back from long odds.

Second half strikes from Jackie Tessier (52', 71') got the Clippers some momentum, before a last-ditch free-kick from Melissa Harrison (90') clinched a point for the visitors.

"Actually I took accountability for our first half performance at half-time," said Kingston Clippers' head coach Christian Hoefler. "I put some players in some roles that they may not have played in some time. We put a fifteen year old in the middle of the park, we gave her an opportunity and she did well, she battled."

"But where I took the blame for the first half, in the second half I gave all the accountability on them. I give all the credit to them. They came back and battled."

Aurora head coach Ramin Mohammadi and his technical staff had done their scouting on Kingston, and warned Aurora's players of the "never say die" attitude of the opponent.

"We watched Kingston against Woodbridge and we knew they had good players who were capable of coming back strong," he said. "We spoke to the players about that aspect, but they are on the field and have to deal with the psychological aspect."

"We had opportunities in the second half, but we were not lucky. There is no excuse, we should have played stronger. We had our plan but, I don't know - could have been the fitness, the heat, just being comfortable at 3-0 ahead. There are no excuses."

Kingston will head home to Queen's University's Tindall Field to face North Mississauga Panthers on June 5 (5 p.m.), while Aurora head to Vaughan Grove on June 1 (9 p.m.) in search of a first win.
