Woodbridge Strikers are pleased to announce that Sarah Forde, the starting goalkeeper for the Strikers’ successful League1 Ontario women's team in their debut 2015 season, has signed a contract with Husqvarna FF in Sweden.

"Sarah was one of our most consistent senior level players in 2015 and was a rock in goal," said Strikers’ head coach, Joe Parolini. "This is a great opportunity for Sarah, and wonderful news for League1 Ontario as well as she is now the second goalkeeper to be picked up by a Swedish club since the end of last season and the fifth woman to graduate from this league to sign a deal in Europe in less than twelve months."

Sarah had a very strong 2015 season for Woodbridge Strikers in the inaugural season of the League1 Ontario Women’s Division, starting eighteen times, compiling a record of twelve wins, four losses and two ties. She posted ten clean sheets and had a goals against average of 1.28. She was named a second team mid-season All-Star as well.

Sarah will depart for the city of Huskvarna (located in southern Sweden, near Jönköping) on May 9th to meet up with her new squad, which currently competes at the Division 2 level in the Swedish women’s soccer league structure. The club narrowly missed out on promotion to Division 1 last season, falling short by just one point.

Woodbridge Strikers SC is proud of the success of their women’s program. The goal of the program is to provide a clear path for young players to grow and mature as players within the club’s player development structure, with the goal of ultimately competing for the club’s top League1 Ontario team and to prepare them to pursue university / college athletic scholarship opportunities at both the NCAA and CIS level.

In addition to helping prepare our brightest young stars for university / college soccer, our club’s League1 program also provides critically important opportunities for our women after they graduate from school, offering a top quality and very competitive platform from which they can attempt to make the jump to the professional ranks of women’s football, whether it is in North America or abroad.

Sarah Forde, along with her 2015 League1 Ontario teammates Christabel Oduro and Alyscha Mottershead, is setting an example for future Woodbridge Strikers women to follow in the future.
