After a very active off-season showcasing players on tour and inking new affiliation agreements, Pro Stars FC should hit the pitch running for their League1 2016 campaign.

A fresh partnership with Mustang Soccer Inc. has both increased Pro Stars squad depth as well as technical staff; Mustang coaches will be coming on board to help train the team and help to fully prepare and integrate the senior academy talent coming through the Pro Stars academy ranks.

Pro Stars have retained a significant core of players from their 2015 campaign, and kept the group ticking through the off-season with showcase tours - notably a spring venture to Barcelona, Spain.

League1 caught up with Pro Stars technical director Josef Komlodi to discuss the new developments with the team, and how preparations are shaping up for the season ahead.

It appears from the outside that the off-season has been very busy for Pro Stars. Can you tell us a little about how the team is coming together for 2016, and what are some of the new challenges and goals for the season/ group?

Prostars FC players, team officials, sponsors and supporters are very excited to start the 2016 season. The club is certainly building on the foundation of our inaugural season in 2015.

We are convinced that the team will have a very good season because the players are very dedicated to achieve higher end goals. We are in the process of arranging more broadcast coverage of our games, and have more fans to come to our home ground Victoria Park, Brampton to support our team.

Our academy trip to Barcelona during the March break helped us to secure the cooperation agreement of the coaching program footballinbarcelona.com. Also, we agreed with the BIC player management from Barcelona to support and represent our players on the international market.

Who are some of the returning core players that Pro Stars have in the ranks for the 2016 season?

A good number of  core players are returning to the team.

Rachaun Palmer, Michael Borowski return to strengthen our defence.

In the midfield we have Pawan Sandhu, Michael Kuhne, Malcolme White, Kibwe Dryer.

In the forward line, we'll have Thomas You, Zachary Gowlet and Danovan Anderson returning.

Most of these players are well below 20 years of age too, so we're quite optimistic about their development at this level.

Please highlight a collection of new players, in terms of where they are coming from, achievements, attributes etc.?

Our academy has recently made an agreement with Mustang Soccer Inc. for team management and players to join our club.

At the present time, we have 14 new players joining the team, and are confident that with the returning and additional new players we strengthened the team to be a league contender.

Did Pro Stars have many players from the 2015 team move on to higher levels?

We did lose some players to the pro levels. From last year's program, Dylan Micallef transferred to Zabbar St. Patrick FC in Malta, and Troy Ferreirianha and Courtney Smith left to Hungary to play with Gyori ETO FC.

These players represent our club at a very high standard and we believe they have a great future. We miss them from our game but at the same time we are happy for them to chase new higher level goals.
