Woodbridge Strikers Women have signed second team All-American goalkeeper Hope Sabadash - a junior at Southeastern Lousiana University and native of Mississauga - to backstop the team for the 2016 League1 season.

"It is an honor and privilege to have such a high quality player and mentor to our younger GKs, in having Hope Sabadash sign with us in League1," said head coach, Joe Parolini.

"This will definitely give not only the Woodbridge League1 team more visibility, but also the league as a whole," he stated.

"Having Hope back-stop an already talented team will give us an opportunity to play different systems at times."

The opportunity arose from Parolini bringing his WSC Strikers '99 Girls on a March Break Scholarship Tour and playing Southeastern Louisiana U.

Southeastern Louisiana have already signed Lenny Yekka from the WSC '98 class, and the program has interest in multiple players from the '99 team said Parolini.

"This is an exciting opportunity for Hope to play in a very strong league for the summer," said Southeastern Louisiana University head coach, Blake Hornbuckle.

"She displays a charisma and commanding field presence while keeping everyone in front of her organized. It is exciting to have an All American as the backbone of the team in goal"

Sabadash will enter her final season with a new designation in front of her name and position – All-American – after being named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's 2015 Division I Women's All-America second team.

Sabadash shared state Player-Of-The-Year honors while head coach Hornbuckle was named co-Coach-Of-The-Year

"It's an extremely well-deserved honor for Hope," Hornbuckle said. "All year-long she has been the goalkeeper people have asked about whenever we played."

"From the NCAA teams we played in Florida State and Auburn, to non-conference and conference matches, everybody was curious as to when Hope is going to graduate. Fortunately, she has another year left."
