Toronto FCA 3 - Internacional de Toronto 2

Toronto FC Academy welcomed Nolberto Solano and his Internacional de Toronto squad to the Kia Training Center at Downsville Park on Sunday afternoon.

The large crowd on hand witnessed an exciting, back and forth contest that finished 3-2 in favor of the home side, thanks to a dramatic goal by TFC'As Mark Anthony ‎Kaye in second half added time.

‎Internacional has struggled over past few weeks, failing to record a point since their opening week draw with Windsor Stars, but came out of the gate very aggressively on this day. Their relentless style bore fruit in the twentieth minute, when they earned a clear penalty that Raheem Edwards cooly converted.

Inter continued to pressure the young TFC side, resulting in several turnovers, but they were unable to convert their strong play into additional goals.

TFCA would make them pay in the thirty-ninth minute, when the league's reigning Player of the Week, Molham Babouli, slotted home his fourth goal of the season on a well executed counter attack to tie the game 1-1.

The early stages of the second half saw TFCA begin to impose themselves more effectively on their opponents, and they looked quite assured in possession. However, midway through the half, a moment of sloppy play by TFCA was severely punished. Internacional's midfield general, Diego Abascal, ‎slotted home a shot from just outside the eighteen yard box to make it 2-1 for the visitors, triggering loud celebrations from the small but exuberant group of Inter supporters on hand.

Those Inter supporters' emotions would soon shift from joy to frustration when TFC'As Dylan Sacramento leveled the match 2-2 in the eighty-fourth minute.

Sacramento's goal appeared to take some of the wind out of Internacional's sails, and TFCA went into full attack mode.  Inter's young goalkeeper, Tom Brevakis, made a number of outstanding saves in the final minutes of the game but couldn't stop Kaye's strike in the second minute of injury time, which secured the full three points for the hosts.

With the win, TFC Academy improves to eight points from their first four games of the season. Alternatively, Inter go into their next match against league leaders Vaughan Azzurri, still seeking their first win of the 2014 campaign.
