The inaugural season of the League1 Ontario Women's Division kicks off in just 8 days (May 23rd) and the North Mississauga Panthers are ready and excited to get started.

On Thursday evening, Club President Trevor Bertrand and Business Manager Lawrence Janit introduced the Panthers' Women's First Team to an entusiastic audience of supporters at a restaurant in Meadowvale. Also in attendance were several club sponsors and League1 Ontario Chairman, Dino Rossi.

It was also announced that the players and coaches unanimously agreed to select Kira Bertrand as team captain for the 2015 season.  Ms Bertrand came up through the club as a youth before enjoying a successful collegiate career at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.  She now gets to come full circle and will provide leadership to the young, highly talented squad of players that has been assembled.

The Panthers will draw heavily from the core of the North Mississauga U17 girls side that were crowned National Club Champions in the fall of 2014 and have complimented that group with top talent from the local area.  Younger players from within the club will also gain valuable experience as occasional callups during the season.

The Panthers will line up against Durham United FC in the first official League1 Women's Division match on May 23rd at 3pm.   The match will take place at Tim Horton's Field in Hamilton.
