In a matchup featuring two early season favorites for the League1 Ontario Women's Division title, Durham United F.C. effectively ended Saturday's match with Vaughan Azzurri in the first 30 minutes, scoring four goals in quick succession, courtesy of Taylor Potts (6'), Rachel Hoekstra (8', 28') and Alexandra Lamontagne (20'). Tamara Brown added a fifth marker in the 39th minute to seal the deal.

On a day when DUFC boasted a number of strong performances, one player clearly stood out in the eye of Vaughan Head Coach Carmine Isacco.

"Alexandria Lamontagne was the best player for Durham," said Isacco. "But the real turning point in the match was when they finished all of their first five chances."

Durham's ability to play both high pressure defense and offense was clearly visible in their first League1 match, a 2-0 opening day victory over North Mississauga. Isacco identified this element of play as an area of particular focus for the Azzurri women's team in upcoming training.

"We will cotinue to work on our pace of play, and breaking pressure," he confirmed.

With their goals in this match, Durham's Taylor Potts and Rachel Hoekstra now sit on two goals apiece in the early going, jumping up the League1 Ontario Women's Division Golden Boot race, sitting just behind ANB Futbol's Kelsey Araujo who notched her third goal of the season on Saturday.

Durham will look to continue their winning ways, and maintain their two match clean sheet streak, when they return to play on June 7th, away at Vaughan Grove to face theWoodbridge Strikers.

Vaughan Azzurri travel to the Hershey Centre in Mississauga to face North Mississauga on June 6th.
