Jessica Lisi (30', 77', 86') led the way for the Woodbridge Strikers in their 6-0 defeat of Sanjaxx Lions in the women's 2015 L1 Cup. Chanel Hudson-Marks (41') and Christabel Oduro (67') added their names to scoresheet, with the rout being completed by an 86th minute own goal.
"Naturally, in today's game the outstanding player has to be Jessica Lisi (’98), who scored three goals," said Woodbridge head coach Joe Parolin. "Anytime you get three goals it's an accomplishment, especially as Jessica played both wingback in the first half, scoring one goal, and then as a wide forward scoring an additional two in the second half."
"Our other player was Christabel Oduro, who controlled the pace of the game and also scored a goal. Christabel’s leadership and experience is helping our younger players mature, both on and off the field."
Sanjaxx Lions head coach Laza Lowe also identified Oduro as the match's MVP, and singled out his players Sarah Anisha Bradbury and Emily Belton for special mention.
"The most important moment was after the second goal as we were in the game until then and after that we seemed to give up," he added.
"Getting two goals in the first half really helped settle down our team," confirmed Parolini. "Getting an early lead helps as we seem to come on in the second half. This was the case again as we came on stronger in the second half and scored four more goals."
Both teams face difficult matches in the weekend ahead.
