Pro Stars continues their upward trajectory, getting a fourth win in a row, this time a 5-2 defeat of Toronto FC Academy in the final L1 Cup men's group stage match. Pro Stars take the final placement in the quarter-final round, while TFCA are eliminated.

"We lost against TFC before with a higher margin, and we had to come out to focus and show that the earlier game was only a bad day," said Pro Stars head coach, Josef Komlodi. "When we scored our second goal it gave a high level confidence to keep going."

PFC: PHILIP BOROWSKI

TFCA jumped out to an early lead after a Kevin Timachy (30') strike. Timachy would get two on the day, scoring his second with a quarter of an hour left in the match, but the brace proved marginal in the face of Pro Stars potent offence.

Leaford Allen (34' 46') led the way for Pro Stars with a brace of his own, while Thomas Winski (44'), Nicholas Theobald (66') and Jammar Allison (87') completed the goal haul for the Stars.

PFC: LEAFORD ALLEN

"#10 Leaford Allen played a very strong game, scored two goals and put out a high level performance," said Komlodi. "#11, Richie Ennin, was a constant danger."

"For us, Andrew Dias as an attacking FB was strong today again, creating opportunities to play into strikers and midfielders," said TFCA head coach, Stuart Neely. "Kevin Timachy was a threat in front of goal. I thought their GK Philip Borowski played well, making several key saves."

TFCA: RICHIE ENNIN

The mood in both camps will be very different at present, with Toronto FC Academy desperately needing some positive results, and Pro Stars now playing with assurance and confidence from their recent run.

"The mood of the players is good, we can relax and play with confidence," confirmed Komlodi.

"Finishing is obviously a key focus for us, as well as second phase of defending in set pieces and in the run of play," added Neely.

TFCA: ANDREW DIAS
