Sigma got off their marks quickly in the matchweek eleven matchup with Sanjaxx Lions, winning 3-0 after finishes from Richard Laryea (16'), Alex Halis (3') and Marcel Zajac (53').

"We had a close one last week, winning in the 87th minute, and the team was set for another challenge as we knew Sanjaxx would build off of the game from last week," said Sigma head coach, Bobby Smyrniotis.

SIG: RICHMOND LARYEA

"We wanted to do better from the beginning and we did - scoring in the 3rd and 16th minutes of the match, which set the tempo for our guys by taking a little bit of pressure off our legs."

"In the second half we asked the team to not only create chances and attack but to do a much better job of managing possession, and the team responded very well."

University of Syracuse's Alex Halis opened the scoring within the first five minutes, while Akron University's Richmond Laryea made sure of the positive start - adding another less than ten minutes later.

SIG: MANNY MORGADO

"For another match, Richmond Laryea showed his class in midfield," said Smyrniotis. "Along with his goal, he did a great job on both sides of the ball, providing us a constant attacking threat up the middle of the park, and doing a great job pressing and winning the ball up high."

"Also, Manny Morgado had his first start in the past four games as he was out injured a few weeks back, and he had a very good match in the holding midfield role. His energy was high, very good in possession, and fantastic at breaking up the opponent's attacks."

Smyrniotis reserved some praise for Sanjaxx's keeper, Matthew Zaikos, who once again played a big part in repelling Sigma's determined offence.

SANJ: MATTHEW ZAIKOS

"For a second match in a row, Zaikos did a great job against us, keeping his team in the match with some key first half saves," commented Smyrniotis.

Sigma's result leaves them in third place going into matchweek twelve, one point ahead of ANB in fourth, and two behind Vaughan in second.

Sigma plays Masters on Saturday July 18 at Hershey Centre, 4 p.m. kickoff.

Sanjaxx is in eleventh place in the standings, one point ahead of Masters at the base of the table. In matchweek twelve, Sanjaxx hosts league leaders Oakville Blue Devils at Esther Shiner Stadium on Sunday July 19, 7 p.m. kickoff.
