In matchweek ten, Durham United showed no signs of dropping their league leading form, pumping in three goals over the first ten minutes to get a crucial early lead over third place Woodbridge Strikers.

Durham would ultimately win the match 4-1, after strikes by Maddie Iozzi (2'), Diarra Simmons (8') and a brace from golden boot leader Alexandria Lamontagne (10', 68'). Woodbridge's Jessica Lisi (21') registered the lone finish for Strikers.

DUFC: ALEXANDRIA LAMONTAGNE

"We were behind by three goals before we could blink," said Woodbridge head coach Joe Parolini. "In the second half the entire team was more focused and we changed our tactics and could have scored five or six goals but we did not find the back of the net."

"We also were not given the benefit of the doubt on two potential penalty calls, which could have changed the game, but that's soccer. We totally controlled the majority of the second half but ended up 1-1 in the second half. Overall a great learning experience of mental preparation."

DUFC: NORA ABOLINS

Strikers late match momentum prompted Parolini to name Durham netminder Nora Abolins as the player of the match.

"The MVP for Durham was their GK, who kept them in the game, especially in the second half when I thought Durham was often outplayed and beaten to the ball, but WSC could not find the back of the goal. Some timely saves helped keep the score line."

DUFC: DIARRA SIMMONS

With the victory, Durham United remains in top spot in the women's League1 Ontario 2015 table, having taken 21 points from eight matches. Durham also holds a game in hand on second place Vaughan Azzurri (19 points), and third place Woodbridge Strikers (16 points).
