ANB's Adonijah Reid (21', 78', 88') scored three in ANB's 5-1 demolition of Pro Stars during matchweek 13, bringing the 15 year old forward's season tally to 13 goals - enough to tie with Vaughan Azzurri's Joey Cicchillo in the race for the golden boot.
"Reid scored a hat-trick," said ANB assistant coach, Marcelo Almeida. "And he gave defenders fits due to his deceptive touches on the ball, and ability to take them on one vs. one. He also created chances for team-mates to score as well."
Brothers Jason Mills (59') and Jahsua Mills (2') completed the scoring for ANB with a goal each, while Leaford Allen (65') finished the sole tally for Pro Stars.
"As soon as we gave away the first goal, the players lost confidence and lost focus in defending," said Pro Stars head coach, Josef Komlodi. "Also extra injuries happened during the game and we had to take out some of the key players. Several starters were missing the game for different reasons and the young team was not able to cope with focusing."
Positive elements did exist for Pro Stars however, as technical staff from both teams singled out the work of Stars keeper, Philip Borowski.
"Goalkeeper Philip Borowski had the best performance on our team, unfortunately our players left him in a hopeless situation with not defending properly," said Komlodi.
"The Pro Stars GK was their MVP," said Almeida. "He stopped several point-blank chances, and stretched to make finger-tip saves."
ANB's best moments arrived late in the match, as the players began to settle into a rhythm that produced three second half goals.
"Biggest challenge was ability to build on lead and keep defensive composure during the match," said Almeida. "Finally, late in the second half, the team was able to extend its lead and put the game out of reach."
"Key was to score fourth goal, which helped create three goal cushion," he added. "It was a goal from great passing play, leading to perfect cross and fantastic header from Reid."
