Pro Stars played host to North Mississauga Panthers in women's matchweek 13, but couldn't prise away all the points from their guests as both sides drew 3-3 in an entertaining goalfest.

There was nothing between the two sides in a first half that ended with two clean sheets, but just after the break the match came alive.

PFC: VITAL KATZ

Pro Stars' Vital Katz opened the scoring in the 54th minute, but North Mississauga offered an immediate response via the finish of Tracy Pizarro Steffler only one minute later. Pro Stars again edged in front in the 65th minute after a Danielle Lauzon strike, but Pizarro Steffler was determined to restore parity, and did so in the 71st minute.

Both teams again cancelled each other out until the last ten minutes of the match, with Katz getting her second of the evening on 84 minutes, and North Mississauga's Hilda Chmait dramatically sealing the draw with a 90th minute strike.

PFC: SAMI FALKENSTEIN

"For us, Aubrey Martin was solid in defence and dealt with the North Miss offensive speed and threats, while Sami Falkenstein was outstanding in mid and her pass completion rate and work rate led the way for the team," said Pro Stars head coach, Benjamin Falkenstein.

"Vital Katz was outstanding up front scoring two goals, while for North Miss Hilda Chmait was a real threat and scored the equalizer."

North Mississauga assistant coach, Trevor Bertrand, agreed with Falkenstein's choices, with one main addition.

"I thought Tracy Pizarro Steffler from our team was dominant up front and was by far our best player," he said.

"It was a back-and-forth game and we struggled to get a rhythm," he added. "The result was deserved for both teams, however it took extra time for us to come up with the tie."

NMISS: HILDA CHMAIT

Both teams are working intensely with their squads, which have been refreshed by a group of slightly younger incoming players.

"As with most teams, we are now allowing our sixteen and seventeen year olds the opportunity to play League1," said Bertrand. "We did as well as we could with the new girls not really having the chance to work together. This will be done this week at our practice sessions, getting the young ones into our pattern of play, blending with the few veterans who remain."

"The turning point was scoring the first goal, as then our young team had a greater belief," said Falkenstein. "We had the lead three times in the game, and again two defensive errors led to equalizers. Recovering was a challenge, and we will be working on defensive coverage."

Both teams will be shortly back to competition, with North Mississauga home to Sanjaxx Lions on Friday August 28 at Hershey Centre, Mississauga - 7 p.m. kickoff.

Pro Stars travels to Country Day School on Saturday August 29 to play ANB Futbol - 4 p.m. kickoff.
