On the road to the FIFA U-20 World Cup Korea Republic 2017, Canada Soccer is deepening its talent pool through an identification camp with League1 Ontario. The four-day camp will precede an upcoming national U-20 camp for 1997-born players in the first week of September.

“This is a great opportunity to talk to players about national team structure and processes,” said Canada Soccer Technical Director Tony Fonseca. “We hope to engage and motivate all the League1 coaches to attend so we can share ideas, experiences and challenges and work together to achieve a greater goal."

The men's U-20 identification camp runs 27-30 August 2015 in Vaughan, Ontario. Alongside Fonseca, U-20 coach Rob Gale and his staff have invited 28 footballers from League1 Ontario. A few players will be asked to stay for the men's U-20 camp the following week.

"We are very excited to welcome Canada Soccer to the Ontario Soccer Centre for the men's U-20 identification camp for League1 Ontario players,” said League1 Ontario Chairman Dino Rossi. “One of our main priorities is to showcase the best players in the province with the goal of helping them get opportunities with Canada's national teams and to progress to the full professional level."

The player list for the men's U-20 camp, which is scheduled 30 August to 6 September, will be published later this week. Along with daily training, the U-20 team will watch Canada's Men's National Team in action on Friday 4 September at BMO Field during 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Qualifiers.

“There is lots of optimism and excitement amongst the group, so it is just nice to have a chance to work with the staff and players and get back to work with the next group in preparation for a qualifying campaign,” said coach Gale. “This camp provide us with that opportunity to look at some of the players and build into the group that has done well on our last two European tours.”
