Second place Woodbridge Strikers kept pace with league leaders Durham United F.C. by winning once again, this time with a composed and clinical 3-0 away result over Pro Stars F.C. Katie Copeland (62'), Alessia Mangoni (70') and Jessica Lisi (75') hit the mark for Strikers.

Despite conceding much of the possession to the visitors, Pro Stars remained defensively stalwart, not conceding until just over an hour of play.

Woodbridge head coach Joe Parolini gave much of the credit to his central midfield trio, and the chemistry they have created over the season.

"The outstanding players were our three central midfielders, led by April Syme, along with Diana (Kiwi) DaRocha and Alyscha Mottershead," he said.

"Our three mids usually set the pace of the game and the three of them are extremely calm on the ball, and don't panic. Their leadership, mentorship and experience are some of the big reasons for our success."

"They also give composure and are extremely effective role models to our young players. Today we played with ten players that were either born in '98 or '99."

Pro Stars also lined out with a young team, and in an unlucky turn for their fortunes in the match, two of their few remaining senior players could not finish the match.

"Turning point for Pro Stars was after we needed to withdraw two key players early in the second half due to injury," explained Pro Stars head coach, Benjamin Falkenstein. "This, together with an already depleted squad, proved very difficult."

With Pro Stars lacking leadership on the pitch, Woodbridge capitalized just after the hour mark and put to rest their own growing anxiety.

"The biggest challenge in today's match was keeping our composure, as the pace of the game was slow and we were getting frustrated with our lack of finishing," said Parolini. "WSC controlled the majority of the ball possession but had little too show for it in the first half."

"There is no doubt that the key moment of the match was getting our first goal," he added.

"The goal woke and almost regenerated our players. Great possession, ball movement, both on and off the ball, but this league proves that one simple mishap and anyone can score and make you pay for it."
