Oakville's Felipe Vilela (1', 73') got a valuable brace in matchweek 19, taking him to joint-leader in the golden boot standings with ANB's Adonijah Reid, and ultimately giving the league leaders an insurmountable 3-1 edge over a hardworking Master's side.

"Vilela is now tied for the league's leading goal scoring record, moving to 18 for the season from our 18 games so far," said Oakville head coach, Duncan Wilde.

"We will now begin preparations for the visit of ANB to Oakville for next weekend's final home game of the season, as we continue to chase another three points and maintain our position at the top of the league."

OBD: FELIPE VILELA

In a matchup between first and last place, particularly in the final leg of season, one may have thought the result was never in doubt.

However, Masters approached the game with a focus and intensity that belied their table position, and three goals in the first 20 minutes suggested the Devils wouldn't simply stride through the opposition.

"Another vital three points as we approach the final games of the season," summarized Wilde.

"But the key to this game was a continuation of focus and intensity, something we have to constantly monitor in the second half of the season with so many personnel changes each game due to injury and suspension."

OBD: KHODY ELLIS

"The team started very well and scored right away following some very quick passing and movement. The opening goal coming from our in form striker Filip Vilela. We then began to over play and got ourselves caught and conceded an equalizer to a very hard working Masters team."

Masters Devonte Brown, Levonte Johnson and Nima Nijafi were a handful for the Oakville defence, with Brown the beneficiary of some good interplay between the trio.

MFA: SHANE LOPEZ

"Devonte scored to make it 1-1 off a beautiful combination play," agreed Masters owner, Junior Groves.

"Shane Lopez again had a dominant game, controlling the defence and dealing with the height of the Oakville players on dead ball situations."

Wilde agreed with Groves assessment of Lopez, a player familiar to the ex-Toronto Lynx manager.

OBD: JUDAH HERNANDEZ

"Just like the first game at Sheridan College earlier in the season, our former Toronto Lynx goalkeeper Shane Lopez made some outstanding saves, before Hitesh Joshi delivered a wonderful cross to find Khody Ellis unmarked in the box," said Wilde.

"Khody took his opportunity well to give us a 2-1 lead at half time. Once again Lopez made some fine stops until Vilela beat his two markers and fired an excellent low show into the bottom corner to secure a well-earned road win."

Masters goes to Kinsmen Park, Pickering, to face Durham United FC on Friday September 11 - 8 p.m. kickoff.

Oakville plays a final home match on Sunday September 13 at Sheridan College, Oakville, in what is also a matchup of the league's top two scorers - ANB Futbol's Reid, and Oakville's Vilela - 4 p.m. kickoff.
