A back-and-forth battle between Kingston Clippers and Vaughan Azzurri entertained spectators on the weekend as the two sides battled to a 3-3 draw.

Both teams continue to demonstrate a depth of character and squad depth in late season League1 play, with an impressive number of talented young players being showcased.

"17 year-old Henry Standage was outstanding and if he continues to perform at the level he did it won't take long for him to move on to a higher level," said Clippers technical director, Chris Eveleigh.

"Bringing through the younger players is proving to bring us more success," he added. "The players care about the club and are playing for each other. More players will get a chance this week in training and on Saturday."

Vaughan posted goals from Duwayne Ewart (9'), Maurizio Ragone (41') and Edward Lay (74'), while Kingston found their markers courtesy of Taylor Nelson (31'), Andrew Whiteman (70') and Anthony Rego (83').

"The first goal woke a few players up and we responded to the early disappointment very well," explained Eveleigh.

"Our biggest challenge was for 15 minutes in the first half when we played with 10 men due to defender Odaine Demar suffering a cut to his head. We made the substitution and ended up with a number of players been forced to play out of position."

Vaughan's heartbeat on the day was Dena Iezady, who Eveleigh singled out as player of the match.

"Dena was the best player for Vaughan," he said. "You could see he was one of the most experienced players on the field."
