Sanjaxx Lions and Kingston Clippers put forth two young squads that battled to the death in this end-to-end 3-2 comeback victory for the Lions.

"It was a pretty good game with both programs having young players playing," said Sanjaxx head coach, Laza Lowe.

"Kingston went ahead by two and Sanjaxx had to fight back - their character was admirable," he added."

Kingston's Damon Matos (17') and Joel Zelt (54') put the visitors up two goals to the good - the latter with a wonder strike from 30 yards - before an hour was played, but a win just wasn't in the cards for the Clippers.

"The key moment was when we scored our first goal, which I thought showed real fighting spirit, hunger, and character," added Lowe.

Dawit Tekie (59') started the comeback for the home side just five minutes after Zelt's contribution, with Lael Daniel (62') adding the equalizer from the penalty spot shortly thereafter.

"Poor Rafa Rodriquez must hold the record for the most penalties given away in League1," said Kingston technical director, Chris Eveleigh.

"This week's was particularly harsh, and them getting the equalizer from the spot kick changed the momentum of the game."

Stefan Nikolic (80') would make the comeback complete just ten minutes from the end of regular time.

"It's very positive to see seven 1999 born players make their League1 debuts, and great to see youngsters Rafa [Rodriguez] and Andrew [Whiteman] leading the team, but we all know 2-0 is the most dangerous scoreline in soccer," said Eveleigh.

"The young players must learn how to see games out when in control of the game."
