In their final match of the 2015 League1 Ontario women's season, North Mississauga Panthers' Oshay Lawes (39') and Michela Vendramin (75') scored the only two goals of the match to defeat Pro Stars FC 2-0. Goalkeeper Claudia Rusu kept the clean sheet.
"For North Miss., their coaching team did a great job in marshalling a young team that was under pressure for most of the game," said Pro Stars head coach, Benjamin Falkenstein.
With her goal, Lawes moved into fifth place in the women's goalscoring charts, with eleven goals in all competitions.
"Although the North Miss goal came entirely against the run of play, the Prostars team kept moving the ball well and maintained a huge possession advantage," added Falkenstein.
In an impressive season, the North Mississauga Panthers won the women's 2015 L1 Cup over Vaughan Azzurri, and finished fourth in the league with 27 points, a win-draw-loss record of 8-3-7, and 25 goals for and 22 against. The Panthers had the fourth best offensive record in the divisiona, and a joint fourth place finish with Vaughan Azzurri in the defensive category.
Pro Stars FC have two matches remaining in their schedule, so with two wins could improve on a current sixth place position with nine points, a record of 2-3-11, and 13 goals for and 43 goals against.
"Although the Pro Stars strikers became well acquainted with the woodwork in this match, hitting posts and crossbars several times," concluded Falkenstein. "It was not to be, and finishing will be worked on in the coming weeks at practice."
