A red-hot in-form Toronto FC Academy ended their season with a 2-1 win over second place Woodbridge Strikers after goals from Cyrus Rollocks (23') and Martin Davis (69'). Stefano Voci (87') got the lone marker for Strikers.

Woodbridge was a side that was itself outstanding throughout the 2015 campaign, and was put out of title contention after Oakville Blue Devils clinched on Saturday evening following a 2-0 result over Pro Stars FC.

"I thought TFC deserved this win," said Woodbridge head coach, Peter Pinizzotto.

"They played with confidence and moved the ball well. We did not play well in the first half we had a very slow start, maybe it had something to do knowing we could not finish in first place."

"Second half was much better, we started moving the ball much better and put more pressure on the TFC defence, but their second goal was the turning point in the game," added Pinizzotto.

"After they scored, we scored to make the score 2-1 and then we created a great opportunity to tie the game. I think as well there was a missed hand ball in the box in injury time, but in the end it was a fair result to the game and a well played game by TFC."

It was a fitting way to end the competitive season, with a tight match between a dynamic young Reds side that has put together the league's best run in the latter part of the 2015 season, and a Woodbridge side that has been steadily racking up points - and maintaining clean sheets - thoughout the campaign.

Woodbridge Strikers beat Sigma FC to take the 2015 L1 Cup, and finished the 2015 League1 Ontario season in second place - for the second year in a row.

"Another great year winning the league cup, and also two consecutive years finishing in second spot," Pinizzotto, also the League1 2014 coach of the year, confirmed. "I am very proud of all my players."

Woodbridge has one more match (details TBA) to add to their second place finish with a current count of 46 points, a win-draw-loss record of 15-1-5, and 44 goals for and 16 against. Woodbridge finishes with the best defensive record in the league, and joint-sixth place offensive record in the league with Durham United.

Toronto FC Academy had an inconsistent first half to the season, winning only three of 12 matches, but after an astounding second half run of ten wins in ten matches the Junior Reds finished in fifth place on 40 points, with a record of 13-1-8, and 61 goals for and 37 goals against.

TFC Academy had the second best offensive record in the league behind Sigma FC, and the seventh best defensive record.

Forward Cyrus Rollocks finished the season with the fifth best goalscoring record in the league with 15 goals.
