The 2023 League1 Ontario Men’s Premier Division season kicks off on Thursday, April 12 with 20 teams in action across the opening weekend of games.

Vaughan Azzurri will begin their title defence hosting North Toronto Nitros. This fixture last year was part of a doubleheader at York Lions Stadium with the Canadian Premier League, and was narrowly won by the Azzurri.

Back-to-back title runners-up Blue Devils will be hoping it’s third time lucky this season. Their campaign opens with a repeat of the 2021 final, against Guelph United, whom they defeated 2-0 in the regular season last May.

ProStars finished last season with 10 wins in 11 games to storm into the playoffs, and they will be aiming for similar form to start 2023. They conclude the opening weekend against 2019 champions Master’s FA at Ontario Soccer Stadium.

Pickering teams have been removed from the men’s and women’s Premier Division schedules for 2023 and the L1O board of directors will announce the plans for these two licenses in due course.
